Candace Parker wanted to focus on all of the good parts of the Los Angeles Sparks' win over the Detroit Shock. Unfortunately, it will be the final five seconds that everyone else is going to remember.

Parker was one of three players ejected along with Detroit assistant coach Rick Mahorn after an ugly scuffle with 4.6 seconds left in Los Angeles' 84-81 victory.

"To be honest, I don't recall exactly what happened," said Parker, who led Los Angeles with 21 points. "I'll have to watch the tape."

The skirmish started moments after Parker and Detroit's Cheryl Ford had to be separated after Ford fouled Parker.

On the next possession, Parker got tangled up with Detroit's Plenette Pierson and fell to the ground. As she was getting up, Pierson intentionally ran into her, setting off the melee.

Parker threw a punch at Pierson before being tackled by Detroit's Deanna Nolan. Players and coaches from both teams joined in, and Mahorn knocked Lisa Leslie to the court at one point.

"I was trying to protect the whole game, the integrity of the game," he said. "The WNBA is very special to me because I have four daughters. I don't even raise my hand to them, and I would never push a woman. This game, I love this game too much."

Mahorn was also involved in the 2004 Detroit Pistons-Indiana Pacers brawl while working as a Detroit broadcaster, going into the crowd to try to pull Ron Artest away from fans.

"Rick Mahorn is known as a peacemaker, from even the brawl we had here with Indiana," Detroit coach Bill Laimbeer said. "He went out there to get people off the pile and to get people to stop the confrontation. That's who he is, that's what he does."

Leslie did not talk to the media, but Los Angeles coach Michael Cooper also said he felt Mahorn was trying to stop the fight.

"I think Rick was trying to play peacemaker, but he's just too big," Sparks coach Michael Cooper said. "I was only trying to grab my players, and I didn't see exactly what happened, but he apparently gently tried to push Lisa away."

DeLisha Milton-Jones shoved and punched Mahorn after the incident with Leslie and was ejected, along with Mahorn, Parker and Pierson. Nolan and Shannon Bobbitt received technicals.

"That was unfortunate, but things like that happen in basketball sometimes," Milton-Jones said. "The league is going to have to decide what kind of action to take."

Ford sprained her right knee while trying to restrain Pierson and left the floor in a wheelchair. Her status is unknown.

"I'm glad that none of our players got hurt, and I hope that Cheryl is OK," Cooper said.

The brawl marred a key victory for Los Angeles, which came in having lost four of five.

"This was a game we needed badly, and we won it," said Milton-Jones, who scored 19 points. "That's the important part, despite what happened at the end."

Detroit rallied from 21 down but missed a chance to win the game in the final two minutes. The Shock have now lost two straight at home after starting the season 10-0 at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

"You're going to be down after losing two games in a row at home, especially emotional, last-minute games, and then throw Ford's injury on top of that," Laimbeer said. "I'm sure we'll get a suspension or two here and there. We can't get the [Olympic] break fast enough."

Leslie finished with 10 points for Los Angeles, which swept the two-game season series. Olympic teammate Katie Smith led the Shock with 20 points.

"I haven't seen something like that, I don't think, in my whole career," Smith said. "This is pretty rare."

The Shock trailed 42-21 in the second quarter but pulled within 76-75 in the final 90 seconds. Detroit rookie Alexis Hornbuckle then stole the ball from Parker, her former college teammate at Tennessee, but Nolan lost control while going in for what would have been a go-ahead layup.

"We dug ourselves a whole in the first half, because we didn't come out ready to play," Smith said. "Two straight games now we've given up a lot of points in the first half, and that's something we've got to fix."

A Duke University official has been arrested and charged with offering a 5-year-old boy for sex.

Frank Mccorkle Lombard, the school's associate director of the Center for Health Policy, was arrested Wednesday, June 24 after an Internet sting, according to the FBI's Washington field office and the city's police department.

A confidential informant claimed to have seen Lombard molest a young African-American child via online chats on multiple occasions, reports CBS affiliate WRAL-TV in Raleigh.

According to an affidavit by District of Columbia Police Detective Timothy Palchak, the unidentified informant facing charges in a separate child sex case led authorities to Lombard.

Authorities said that Lombard tried to persuade a person — who he did not know was a police officer — to travel to North Carolina to have sex with a child.

The detective's affidavit charges Lombard said in an online chat that he had sexually molested the boy. The court papers say Lombard also invited the undercover detective to North Carolina to have sex with the young boy and even suggested which hotel he should use.

Authorities told WRAL that Lombard told the undercover officer that he has seen and may still have videos depicting children under 5 years old engaging in sexual activity, but that he cleans his digital collection every so often for fear of detection. Those files may still be traceable, a digital specialist told WRAL.

According to a second WRAL report, the FBI used a software program called ICUii during the online chat with a user who called himself "cooper2" or "cooperse." A subpoena of account information from ICUii connected Lombard to the "cooper2" user name, according to the affidavit.

ICUii also shared with the FBI a complaint filed in January 2007 against Frank Lombard from another user. That user alleged Lombard said he "was into incest" and had adopted two African-American children, the affidavit says.

According to the affidavit, Det. Timothy Palchak of the Washington Metropolitan Police Department talked online with a person using the name "F.L," reports WRAL. Palchak said "F.L." described specific sex acts he had performed on a 5-year-old child and said that he lived in Durham.

In the chat transcript, WRAL reports, "F.L." is asked how he got access to a child so young. "Adopted," he replied, and said that the process was "not so hard ... especially for a black boy."

In the chat, "F.L." told Palchak that abusing the child was "easier when he was too young to know what was happening and when he couldn't talk ...He had a little too much Benadryl. Was knocked out."

Lombard was charged in federal court in Washington with attempting to induce someone to cross state lines to engage in sex with a child. If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

He appeared in federal court in Durham, N.C., before Magistrate Judge Wallace Dixon. At the hearing, Lombard agreed to be transferred to Washington for a later court hearing. His lawyer did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Michael Schoenfeld, vice president for public affairs at Duke, said Lombard has been employed with Duke University since 1999. He is now on unpaid administrative leave.

"Duke is cooperating with the investigation," Schoenfeld said. He said the university was notified of the incident after Lombard was arrested.

Authorities executed a search warrant Wednesday evening at Lombard's home, according to court documents. The papers show investigators seized two webcams, five computers and a sex toy, among other items.

Hi there,

I know I've been a little quiet lately but I've been in silent reflection, quiet meditation, and prayer. Turning 40 is such a blessing. Especially because as I child I always thought I would die before I grew up.

If life begins at 40, then I owe the little boy that I was my life. Case in point, not long ago, I was brought a film to watch to see what I thought of it. It's called PRECIOUS, based on the novel PUSH by Sapphire. I sat at home watching this movie not knowing what to expect. After the movie was over, I sat there for a long time just thinking about what I had just witnessed. I watched all the things that Precious, a 16-year-old girl in the film, went through. I watched her mother be unusually cruel to her and I realized at that moment that a large part of my childhood had just played out before my eyes. It hit me so hard, I sat there in tears realizing that somehow, by the grace of God, I made it through. My tears were tears of joy, being thankful that I made it.

Believe me when I tell you, PRECIOUS is a powerful film. After seeing it, I had to be involved. I didn't write it or direct it, nor am I making any money from it. Oprah and I both are giving any proceeds we would make to charity. I just wanted to get as many people to see it as I can. It gave me so much hope after watching it. For everyone who has been a Precious, male or female, this movie will make you so glad you made it through.

It took me through some raw emotions and brought me to some things and places in my life that I needed to deal with but had long forgotten. It brought back memories so strong that I can smell and taste them. Like, when I was very young, my mother decided to leave my father...she had had enough of his insanity. She loaded me and my two sisters up in an old Cadillac that he had bought for her, and drove to California. When he realized she was gone, he called the police and reported the car stolen, as it was in his name. My mother was arrested and my two sisters and I were put in the cell with her. He and my uncle drove from Louisiana to California to get us. We spent several days in jail waiting for him. He bailed her out and couldn't wait to get her into the car. He got into the back seat with us and beat her black and blue from California to Louisiana, as me and my sisters watched. Even though I was only two or three, I know that this had to have some effect on me.

I'm tired of holding this in. I don't know what to do with it anymore, so, I've decided to give some of it away...

Memories at 40: Not long ago, I was asked to speak at an engagement. I walked in and I was told that they had assigned a person to take care of me while I was there. She walked up to me, all of 5'2” of her, and asked if I needed anything. I looked at her and started to sweat. It took me back thirty-something years to her apartment. I couldn't have been more than 10 years old when I went over to play with her son and Matchbox cars. She opened the door in skimpy lingerie. There was a man sitting on the couch, smoking. She told me that her son was in the bedroom. I was there playing with him about 20 minutes when I heard the man arguing with her. He said he was leaving and slammed the door. She came into the bedroom and told me that I had to go home. She told her son to take a bath and she locked him in the bathroom. I was at the front door trying to get out, when she came in and laid on the sofa and asked me if I wanted the key. I told her I had to go home as it was getting dark. She put the key inside of herself and told me to come get it, pulling me on top of her.

Memories at 40: “What the f*#K are you reading books for?! That's bull*#*T!"

"You F*#*ing jackass! You got book sense but you ain't got no mothaf*#*en common sense! You ain't sh*t and ain't never gonna be sh*t!” I heard this every day of my childhood. As my father would beat and belittle me, he played all kinds of mind games with me. He knew I loved cookies as a kid, most kids do. So he would buy them and put them on top of the fridge and when I would eat them he would beat me mercilessly.

My mother was out one night, as she loved to play bingo, and my father came home...mad at the world. He was drunk, as he was most of the time. He got the vacuum cleaner extension cord and trapped me in a room and beat me until the skin was coming off my back. To this day, I don't know what would make a person do something like that to a child. But thank God that in my mind, I left. I didn't feel it anymore, just like in PRECIOUS. How this girl would leave in her mind. I learned to use my gift, as it was my imagination that let me escape. After he was done with his rant he passed out. Since my aunt lived two doors down, I ran to her. She saw me and was horrified. She loaded her 357 and went to kill him. Holding a gun to his head, her husband came and stopped her.

Memories at 40: I got a call not long ago from a friend. He told me that a man that I knew from church when I was a kid had died and he didn't have any insurance. His family was trying to reach out to me to see if I would pay for his funeral. I quickly said no, but I wish I would have said yes. There is something so powerful to me in burying the man that molested me. I wish I would have dug the grave myself.

Memories at 40: I was about 8 or 9 years old. I had a crush on a little girl across the street. She would come over to my house and we'd play. She was about 12 or 13. One day she stopped coming and when I asked her why, she told me that my father was touching her. I didn't believe her, so I talked her into staying one night. We were both asleep -- she was in one bed and I was in another. I opened my eyes to see my father trying to touch her and her pushing him away. I moved in my bed trying to make him think I was waking up. He looked over at me and left out of the room. Not long after that, he beat me mercilessly for something again. Another mind game set up, so I told my mother what he had done. The blood drained from her face. We left that day. We were at my Aunt's house and he came there about 1am. Not long after that we were back at home. Nothing would compare to the random, drunken, violent beatings I would receive from then until I was 19.

Memories at 40: We would spend the summers in the country, with my father's adoptive mother. As a kid I was always sick. I had asthma and he hated it. He hated that I wasn't strong and virile like him. He hated that I couldn't be in the sawdust, pollen and the raw lumber like him. He hated that I liked to read and write and draw. He hated that me and my middle sister were darker-skinned than him. He didn't think he could make a dark baby. He just hated everything about me I guess. Anyway, I had to go to the doctor every Tuesday to get shots to control my allergies. When his mother found out she said, “Ain't nothing wrong with that damn boy...he just got germs on him. Stop wasting all that money.” When my mother left to visit some friends I heard what sounded like water running in a tub but it was sporadic. She came and got me out of the living room leaving my Matchbox cars on the floor. She said she was going to kill these germs on me once and for all. She gave me a bath in ammonia.

Grateful at 40: I was asked recently how I made it through all of this, (half has not even been told) and my answer to that is...I know for a fact that there is a GOD. When my father would say or do those things to me, I would hear this voice inside of me say, “That's not true” or, “Don't believe that” or, “You're going to make it through this”. I didn't know at the time what “it” was, but today I surely have no doubt that “it” was GOD. That voice always gave me comfort. It allowed me to hold on. It kept me from being strung out on drugs, from dying when I wanted to commit suicide. It kept me from being a gang banger or drug dealer. Worse than all of those things put together, it kept me from being him. It brought angels to comfort me after every foul, harsh word or every welt on my legs or back. GOD, only GOD.

To know that the little boy that I was went through all that -- he went through and made it. Then me, as a man...I have to take on the responsibility of forgiving all of those people. I owe it to that little boy that I was and, more than that, I owe it to the man that I am. Think about it, as a child we have no recourse. We have nowhere to go. We have to endure it. But as adults, we have choices. I choose to forgive with all my might. Forgiveness has been my weapon of choice. It has helped to free me.

If you're having a hard time getting over something in your life, maybe you can try forgiveness too. It's not easy, but it does bring forth healing. I know that there are a lot of people out there with stories far worse than mine but you, too, can make it. To those of you who have, welcome to life. I celebrate you. We're all PRECIOUS in His sight.

Michael Gaines was sentenced to 13 years in prison about an hour after he was led out of the courtroom, still hurling obscenities at the judge and a prosecutor.

When District Judge Rebecca Pilshaw gave Gaines the chance to speak at his sentencing, he commenced an obscenity-laced outburst at Pilshaw and Assistant District Attorney Kevin O'Connor.

After a few minutes, Gaines was escorted from the courtroom and was later sentenced by Pilshaw via a televised hearing.

Gaines, who is HIV positive, was convicted of battery for spitting in the faces of two sheriff's deputies while in the Sedgwick County Jail.

"There was a lot of people that got me to this point and I can't thank them all. But thank you for your love and support. They have allowed me to do a lot more than I could have on my own . . . . I have overcame a lot. I am not angry but I am disappointed that I was denied justice. But I am happy that I was afforded you all as family and friends. I love you all. Please just keep the struggle going . . . . I am just sorry and I am not as strong as I thought I was going to be. But I guess it only hurts for a little while. You are all my family. Please keep my memory alive."
Dominique Green Last Words

Dominique came of age as an unloved African-American young man, as poor in spirit as he was in material wealth. Both parents were alcoholics and his father was addicted to marijuana. His mother was mentally ill and tortured and abused Dominique and his younger brothers.

To save his fragile brothers, Dominique took their punishment. He also took one brother to a homeless shelter where they both lived to avoid the constant abuse at home. At age 15, Dominique and his brother Marlin were thrown out of their house by their mother. Dominique rented a storage shed where they both lived, and sold drugs to support Marlin and himself.

One evening in 1992, when Dominique was 18 years old, he allegedly went out with a group of three men whom he knew. They were said to have robbed people at gunpoint. One man, Anthony Lastrapes, was killed by a single shot to the chest. There were no eyewitnesses or scientific evidence to indicate that Dominique participated in this crime, but at the trial the other young men testified against Dominique. In return, the State dropped its capital murder charges against them. Dominique told the police he was there but insisted that he did not commit the murder.

Two of the other men, the black men, went to prison, while the white man who admitted being present at the murder and sharing in the proceeds from the robberies was not indicted or prosecuted at all. Indeed, the State of Texas now will not let this man speak to anyone about the case, even though he was never charged at all. This all occurred in Houston, a part of Harris County , Texas, a place that has sent more inmates to their executions than 47 states and has thus gained the name of the "Death Penalty Capital of the World."

During the sentencing phase of the trial - when the jury was determining whether Dominique should live or die - his court-appointed lawyer chose psychologist Dr. Walter Quijano to testify in defense. To analyze Dominique's future dangerousness, Dr. Quijano took into account the fact that Dominique is African-American. He did not however, share this bias with the jury.

No topic is off limits. Watch as Mike discusses his fight against Evander Holyfield and his relationship with Robin Givens.

A few years after losing his mentor, Mike fell for actress Robin Givens. After a highly publicized courtship, they got married in February 1988.

Soon after they said, "I do," rumors about Mike's violent nature and infidelity began to swirl around the couple. It all came to a head when the pair agreed to sit down with Barbara Walters for an unforgettable interview. During the interview, Robin said Mike was manic-depressive and, at times, abusive.

"I couldn't believe Robin Givens was saying those lies about me. … I was flabbergasted," he says. "When I look back at it now, I can't believe I sat there and didn't say anything. But then again, if I were to act crazy and start smashing and going crazy in front of television, that's what they would have wanted."

Robin's accusations made Mike furious. "At that particular moment, I truly wanted to sock her, but I just didn't do it. I was young at that time," he says. "I have socked her before, and she socked me before, as well. It was just that kind of relationship."

"You are a very big guy, so it would be hard for some woman to stand up against you physically," Oprah says. "Is there ever an instance where a woman deserves to be struck?"

"I don't know. … Women do kill people and hurt people too," he says. "I just know we're both human beings. … And we have to treat this human being a certain way just from a physical perspective. When I was in this marriage, I was wide open like a puppy dog. She could have done anything. I would have said: 'Okay. I love you still.'"

Michael Gerard "Mike" Tyson (born June 30, 1966) is a retired American boxer. He was the undisputed heavyweight champion and remains the youngest man ever to win the WBC, WBA and IBF world heavyweight titles. He won the WBC title at just 20 years, 4 months and 22 days old, after defeating Trevor Berbick by a TKO in the second round. Throughout his career, Tyson became well-known for his ferocious and intimidating boxing style as well as his controversial behavior both inside and outside the ring.

Nicknamed "Kid Dynamite,"[4] "Iron Mike,"[1] and "The Baddest Man on the Planet,"[2] Tyson won his first 19 professional bouts by knockout, 12 in the first round. He unified the belts in the splintered heavyweight division in the late 1980s to become undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. Tyson lost his title when he lost to 42-to-1 underdog James "Buster" Douglas in February 11, 1990, in Tokyo, by a KO in round 10.

In 1992, Tyson was convicted of sexually assaulting Desiree Washington, for which he served three years in prison. After being released from prison in 1995, he engaged in a series of comeback fights. He regained a portion of the heavyweight title, before losing it to Evander Holyfield in a 1996 fight by an 11th round TKO. Their 1997 rematch ended in shocking fashion as Tyson was disqualified for biting off part of Holyfield's ear. He fought for a championship again at 35, losing by knockout to Lennox Lewis in 2002. Tyson retired from competitive boxing in 2005 after two consecutive knockout losses to Danny Williams and Kevin McBride. Tyson declared bankruptcy in 2003, despite receiving over US$30 million for several of his fights and $300 million during his career.

In 2008, the documentary Tyson premiered at the annual Cannes Film Festival in France. The film was directed by James Toback and has interviews with Tyson and clips of his fights and from his personal life. It received high critical praise, scoring an 86% approval rating on the website Rotten Tomatoes from a pool of over 100 film critics.

A jazz singer shocked some Denver residents after replacing the words to the national anthem with those of the "Black National Anthem" during the annual State of the City address this week.

Rene Marie was asked to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" before Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper delivered the annual address. Instead, she sang the lyrics of "Lift Every Voice and Sing" — a hymn commonly referred to as the "Black National Anthem" — to the tune of the national anthem.

"If anyone has got a right to be angry it's probably me," Hickenlooper told the station. "I guess what I feel most is just deeply disappointed."

The mayor said only Marie, her husband and a musical adviser knew what the local jazz singer had in mind.

"What she said was that she was very sorry, that she meant no disrespect, that she was trying to make a creative expression of her love for the country."

But the change in lyrics angered many residents, including City Councilman Charlie Brown.

"I was mad," he said. "I almost walked off the stage."

After a lavish island wedding, actress and First Lady of Turks and Caicos LisaRaye McCoy-Misick was struck with a cold reality: her fairy-tale life with husband Premier Michael Misick was just that—a fairy tale. Last year, the couple brought charges against one another in what was allegedly a domestic violence incident that occurred at their home. As the First Lady prepares for her pending divorce, her estranged husband deals with allegations of governmental corruption. Misick has dismissed the allegations, maintaining that they were invented by his political opponents. LisaRaye opens up to ESSENCE.com about the failure of their marriage, her previous fear of becoming a First Lady, and why she's no opportunist.

ESSENCE.COM: Nice to hear from you. You've laid low since all the hoopla surrounding your marriage to Turks and Caicos Premier Michael Misick. How have you been holding up?
LISARAYE McCOY-MISICK: Why is it that people don't embrace one another when we're going through a tough time? Some of the things I read about me were so wrong and hurtful, but I am fine. It's okay to move forward because things happen. Does it hurt? Yes. Am I disappointed? Incredibly. But this too shall pass.

ESSENCE.COM: Is it difficult to go through rough times publicly, especially with a spouse.
LISARAYE: Yes. There is a law in Turks and Caicos that you must remain married for three years before you begin any kind of divorce proceedings. If you want to get a divorce before that you have to be able to prove certain things that will grant you the right to do so.

ESSENCE.COM: What evidence did you provide that helped you in your case?
LISARAYE: I can't be specific right now. I will say that there are things that happen within a marriage which can disrespect the union and actions can be taken against those things. As an actress, I have put myself out there as an independent Black woman, a single mom, a go-getter, a hustler who isn't afraid to survive. If you get with a man who goes against who you are or what you believe in, people who know you begin to say, "Hey, that's not the LisaRaye I know." As his wife, my name has been associated with things that I have nothing to do with, and I have to fight to clear my name.

ESSENCE.COM: When you say you have to "fight for your name" are you referring to the British investigation into the government of Turks and Caicos and its leader, your estranged husband?
LISARAYE: Yes. I have been summoned to the hearing for questioning from the commission regarding the corruption inquiry into my husband's government.

ESSENCE.COM: Do you believe your husband is innocent or guilty of those allegations?
LISARAYE: That's not for me to decide.

ESSENCE.COM: Do you think that you and your husband could have avoided such a public war?
LISARAYE: Honestly, I hoped our divorce could be amicable. I'm saying to him, "Let's get it over with so we can move on with our lives. It's not fair to keep me involved in all this mess that I know nothing about... I'm human and enough is enough." I'm going through some things, but I've been quiet and haven't spoken to my country. I was trying to bow out gracefully, but after a while the Southside [of Chicago] had to come forward and finally say, "Hold on! Wait a minute!"

ESSENCE.COM: Many balked at your whirlwind romance and marriage and accused you of being an opportunist. How do you feel about that assessment of your character?
LISARAYE: First of all, I'm a fan of love and partnership. I would say this to my critics: If a man comes to you there obviously has to be a connection. I had a man who's smart and powerful and who I fell in love with. He's embracing my family. Add the fact that I have an opportunity to bring tourism to his country and be involved in something historical. Who in the hell would say no? But what scared me was the idea of being First Lady?

ESSENCE.COM: What frightened you about assuming that role?
LISARAYE: I knew nothing about being a First Lady or politics. I'm thinking, What am I going to have to change? I'm on a successful sitcom, my daughter is in high school and I'm the breadwinner. What am I going to do? Then Prince Charming comes my way and I'm saying, "God, did You send this man to me to take me away like Calgon?"

ESSENCE.COM: Was it difficult making the transition from Hollywood to a small island?
LISARAYE: I have a responsibility to LisaRaye the actress, the host, the motivating speaker, the mother, the model. That woman is still me. However, I understood that I had taken on this other responsibility to the countrymen and women of Turks and Caicos. I stepped into this position as the country's First Lady, and I will admit I was scared, because I'm an American girl, a city girl who is used to the lights, camera, and action. I knew nothing about being a politician's wife or First Lady. In Hollywood, we don't sell sugar and coffee; we sell the sand, the sea and the stars. Everything in Turks and Caicos is different—culturally, geographically and even the style of dress. It wasn't easy leaving my family and friends behind to come to a country where I know no one except my husband. There was no protocol person or committee to teach me what my role should be nor did anyone tell me, "This is what we expect of you."

ESSENCE.COM: In retrospect, do you think you sacrificed too much as the First Lady of Turks and Caicos?
LISARAYE: I feel like I gave up too much of myself and compromised a bit too much. I felt like I wasn't involved enough. I went to the country and wanted to handle those things that I knew, like helping to increase tourism, because I know a lot of people, creating the film festival—those kinds of things. Perhaps I could have been more proactive, more vocal or maybe I should have had him talk to me more about his political stand. A lot of times I was learning about my husband's political stance while I'm sitting in an audience listening with everyone else.

ESSENCE.COM: Bloggers have often said that you're too "ghetto" to be a First Lady. How does that make you feel?
LISARAYE: I am not and never grew up in the ghetto. People need to get it right. I grew up on the Southside of Chicago. What people don't realize is that my father was a multimillionaire who owned 12 hotels, motels, a steel mill, a radio station, a club, nursing home, and a law office. So I think it's safe to say I'm a little above middle class and I'm a daddy's girl. I make no apologies for loving the finer things in life or the men I choose to date. I don't feel bad about the person I am. Now, I do have an edge, rawness and realness, and I can tell you I'm going to keep that. I'm one of those women who's not to be messed with. I'm very opinionated and boisterous at times. I'm also kind and humble. I know when to fold and when to hold and that's important. If my edge scares you, then you have a choice to remove yourself. Other than that, I'm very approachable, and when people meet me they always say, "You are so down to earth and nothing like I thought you were."

ESSENCE.COM: Some people will wonder why you chose to speak out now.
LISARAYE: I could have talked a long time ago and been pouring salt on my husband, but that's not my style. He has enough he's dealing with. I was trying to bow out gracefully, but I couldn't take it any more. I want to let my people who care about me know what's going on. I have never been that type of celebrity where folks are following me and care what's going on in my personal life. Again, I'm doing fine and I'm going to get through this.

"He's worth more dead than when he was alive," Joe, 80, tells "Extra" in an interview that airs Thursday night. "I'd rather have him alive."

As Michael's movie "This Is It" rakes in $2.2 million in the box office, Joe adds, "When he was living, they didn't show this."

Joe admits he wasn't on board with the flick at first, which documents Michael rehearsing for his comeback tour of the same name.

"I didn't know what 'This Is It' meant," says Joe, who spoke to "Extra" in Las Vegas at the unveiling of a celebrity star honoring him and his famous family.

But the movie allows him to remember Michael "as I knew him best: performing and dancing on stage. Entertaining people," he says.

Hearing Michael's songs make Joe "very emotional," he admits. He sometimes sheds tears "when I'm off to myself and I start thinking about things that we went through," he says. "No one will ever see me, though."

He has harsher feelings for his son's doctor, Conrad Murray, who is currently under investigation on manslaughter charges.

Joe says if he saw Murray, he'd "knock him out."

September 04, 2008. FORREST CITY, AR – (AP) Police say a Forrest City, Arkansas man has been charged with raping his 8 day-old baby.

According to a police report, officers were called to the Forrest City Medical Center, September 1, 2008, about a baby that had been sexually assaulted. Forrest City police say the baby also had a skull fracture and had to be transferred to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock because of the severity of the injuries.

Investigators say the father attacked the infant during a visit at her 15 year-old mother's house. Police say other people were at the home at the time of the assault.

Police say Davis had no criminal record since turning 18, but could not say whether Davis had a juvy wrap-sheet. The information could not be released under Arkansas state law, said investigators.

Police say the infant’s father, 18 year-old Reginald Davis, has been charged with Rape and Second-Degree Battery. The case is still under investigation and it is unknown if any other arrests will be made, said Forrest City Police.

Lil Wayne’s attempt to express his true feelings about mixtape DJs profiting from his image and music or a desperation move for publicity with Tha Carter III coming out in about two weeks, the "Greatest Rapper Alive" has lashed out against mixtape deejays.

A snippet from Foundation Magazine has Lil Wayne arguing with the interviewer when asked who his first deejay he remembered.

“I don’t remember the mixtape deejay—tell this dude who he talking to. I’m not into all that shit. I don’t know no mixtape deejay. I am the originator,” Wayne drowsily exclaimed.

Using Arthur Nobel, the creator of dynamite, as an example, Wayne compared himself to the Nobel Peace Prize inventor and explained his significance.

“I’m him. I created the mixtape game but I’m not in to that anymore. I’m doing Lil Wayne. I’m against it—and to the mixtape deejay, I don’t know no mixtape deejays—fuck you,” he continued.

Making his point of being on Top 25 charts, Wayne appeared to place himself above the underground promotion methods of mixtapes.

“I’m on Top 25—I ain’t put out 25 mixtapes. So fuck y’all. Fuck DatPiff. Fuck mixtape deejays. Carter III coming June 10th. Go get it or don’t go get it, suck my dick. I’m smelling myself. I’m too good,” Wayne affirmed.

Before getting up and leaving the interview, Wayne used the metaphor of mixtape deejays “sucking my dick and not letting me nut.”
